Our why.
Hi—I’m Kurt Jamiel, founder of Income Associates.
After nearly three decades in the industry, I’ve come to believe that the most overlooked part of retirement isn’t how to grow your savings—it’s how to turn them into income you can count on.
Many advisors focus on accumulation. But once you stop working, the question shifts: How do I live off what I’ve saved? How do I draw income—every month, for the rest of my life—without running out, overexposing myself to risk, or depending on people who may not be there when I need them?
That’s the gap I built Income Associates to fill.
With a background in military intelligence and financial data analysis, I’ve spent my career pressure-testing systems—looking for weak points, running real-world scenarios, and solving for stability. That same mindset is what drives our planning today. We don’t rely on hopeful averages or theoretical “safe withdrawal” rules. We run the actual math, stress-test the strategy, and show you clearly how long your money will last—month by month, not year by year.
But what matters just as much as the math is the relationship.

At Income Associates, we take our role as your guide seriously.
We’re not here to drop a product or a plan in your lap and disappear. We’re here to walk with you—through the decisions, the transitions, the “what now?” moments. We listen closely. We learn what matters to you. And we keep showing up—month after month, year after year—so you always have a clear path forward and someone you trust to help you navigate it.
For me, this work is deeply personal. It’s not just about charts or projections. It’s about real people making real-life decisions that shape their actual future.
If you’ve done the hard work of saving, you deserve a plan—and a partner—you can rely on.
We’d be honored to walk with you.

Kurt Jamiel,
Founder & Advisor
Hi again—I’m Kurt. You met me at the top of the page, but I wanted to tell you more about how I ended up doing this work.
Growing up around my mom and dad’s successful insurance agency taught me that business is about people first. Even as a multiple-business owner, my dad still found time to teach me about the stock market—long before I could even drive.
As a U.S. Army Military Intelligence Officer stationed in South Korea, I was trained in the art of patient, strategic analysis. Law school refined that lens, teaching me how to evaluate systems, spot failure points, and advocate with precision.
My early career in financial services revealed an industry built on scale over fit. I watched firms deploy the same cookie-cutter solutions (those familiar color-coded pie charts and one-size-fits-all projections) regardless of each client’s unique situation. But retirement isn’t a spreadsheet problem with universal answers, and hoping markets cooperate isn’t a strategy.
That disconnect bothered me enough to start Jamiel Financial Advisors, LLC in 2003, which later became Income Associates and began offering investment advisory services in 2024. We don’t settle for standard. We build income strategies that work—regardless of what markets do.
Outside the office, you’ll often find me biking or hiking with my wife, Mary, and our sweet rescue dog, Lucy. I also enjoy time in my workshop, turning a rough piece of lumber into something beautiful.
My military training taught me to plan for what could go wrong, not just what we hope will go right.

Tim Nolan,
Client Success Director
Hi, I’m Tim. I’ve spent 35 years in the financial services industry, starting at MFS Investment Management in 1989 and working with institutions ranging from insurance companies to wealth management firms. Through roles at Fiducient Advisors and TIAA, I’ve seen how the industry operates from multiple angles—and I’ve learned that most retirement advice puts the burden of risk squarely on the retiree’s shoulders.
Throughout my career, I’ve watched too many people approach retirement with carefully accumulated savings, only to be told they need to take on significant market risk to make their money last. This never sat right with me. The same disciplined approach that helped them save successfully shouldn’t suddenly become a liability in retirement. That’s why I joined Income Associates—because I believe your natural instincts about money are an asset, not an obstacle.
Outside of work, I serve on the board of Multitude Ministries, volunteer with Make-A-Wish, and mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters. This volunteer work keeps me grounded in what really matters—having the financial freedom to focus on the people and causes you care about.
The industry tells you to take more risk in retirement. I believe you've earned the right to take less.

Katy Kemp,
Operations Manager
Hi, I’m Katy. For more than 11 years, I’ve been the one making sure the details at Income Associates are handled with care—so our clients never have to worry about them. I love the behind-the-scenes work: keeping things organized, smoothing out the process, and creating the kind of service that makes people feel seen and valued.
For me, operations isn’t just paperwork or checklists—it’s about making sure every family feels like they’re the only one in the world. That’s the standard I hold myself to, and it’s what keeps me excited to come to work every day.
Outside the office, I’m cheering on my two teenagers, who are super-stars in their own right. Being their mom is my proudest role, and it gives me perspective on why this work matters: at the end of the day, it’s always about family.
Behind every detail is a family that deserves to feel cared for.
